Here is one of my favorites from Maura and Tim's wedding. The light in this room was so beautiful.

Debbie and Caleb
Debbie and Caleb were married on the terrace at the Cleveland Botanical Garden a few weeks ago. Yes, folks, that's right. A few weeks ago. I'm a bad blogger. I could give you excuses, but I'll just let you enjoy the photos instead :)
This wedding was unique for me because Debbie and Caleb opted for completely photojournalistic coverage of their wedding--meaning no posed photos at all. Though many photographers, including myself, bill themselves as photojournalistic photographers, it is often a mix of PJ and traditional posing. So it was fun and challenging to be as stealthily unobtrusive as possible, capturing the moments that were available to me. Here are a few photos from their gorgeous wedding.

I loved that the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom left the ceremony with their arms around each other. It's easy to become so focused on the union of the bride and groom, and forget two families are joining as well.

It's always nice to see friendly faces in the crowd when I'm working :)
Congratulations, Debbie and Caleb. I hope you have a long and happy life together.

Dan and Katie
Joyful. That is the word I would use to describe this bride and this wedding. Yes, every wedding is a joyous occasion; but I have seldom seen a bride so full of joy as Katie. She radiates it. She and Dan committed to each other in the Japanese Garden inside the Cleveland Botanical Garden.

The maid of honor toast, which included a Venn diagram, was hysterical. Yeah, Johnny Depp was on it. If you want to know more, you'll have to ask Katie and Dan.

This is my favorite spot to photograph in the Botanical Gardens. Wrought iron gate
Congratulations, Dan and Katie. I hope you have a long and happy life together.
This was, incidentally, my second Katie and Dan of the season. What are the chances??

One favorite from Dan and Katie's wedding
This is my absolute favorite of the entire, beautiful day at the Cleveland Botanical Garden with Dan and Katie. We were finished with portraits, and they were climbing the stairs to their reception. The light coming through the trees caught my eye as they stopped for a kiss. I got so excited, I think I said, "Oh, please hold that!"

They were only too happy to oblige ;)

Maria and Tommy
Here are a few of my favorites from Maria and Tommy's wedding. These two were so much fun to work with!
I love those last looks in the mirror. The critical once-over to make sure everything is in place. It's such a personal moment, yet utterly familiar and recognizable because we all do it.

Waiting for the ceremony to begin....
They released a dozen doves after the ceremony. Or maybe it was fewer--the way they flew out of the trunk, it seemed like a lot.
I just loved this stained glass window at the back of the church, and before I could even ask Maria to stand in front of it, she suggested it. I love it when the bride and groom are on the same wavelength as me!

Congratulations, Maria and Tommy. Best wishes for a long and happy life together.

All time favorite
Ok, seriously, this might be my favorite photo of the season so far. I can't decide if it's because he looks so unguarded, or the directional light...maybe it's simply because you wouldn't expect to see something like this at a wedding. This kind of lighting, this kind of feel. I don't know. Most of the time, when I'm talking about my photos on here, I feel kind of silly. Trying to put words to something visual seems like an exercise in futility. So I'll just be quiet and say, I love this image from Maria and Tommy's wedding.

Pete and Deborah
I've never seen two people happier to have found each other than Pete and Deborah. There was almost an air of disbelief about them.... as if they couldn't believe their luck at finding such a wonderful person to be with. And if they looked away, the other might disappear.
They both welled up with tears when they saw each other.
They could hardly take their eyes off each other.

Congratulations, Deborah and Peter.

Andrew and Julie
Here are a couple of favorites from Andrew and Julie's wedding in July. Julie's mother made her incredible dress, and there were some last minute alterations.
The getting ready shots are some of my favorites. The excitement, nervousness and anxiety are almost palpable.

The preparation was worth it. I think she took his breath away when she came down the aisle.
The ceremony and reception took place at The Oaks Lodge overlooking Chippewa Lake. Though it rained early in the day, it cleared up in time to have an outdoor ceremony.

I believe it was at this point that Andrew realized, when the light is right, I just can't stop taking pictures. He was actually laughing at my excitement here, but look at the light! The sun was setting, all soft and golden on his face. I know that everyone's monitor is different, so it may not be as apparent as it is to me--but do you see it?? Awesome light. Just love it.

Congratulations, Julie and Andrew. What a gorgeous, unique wedding.
