Here is the final installment of Shetal and Kristopher's amazing, two day Indian and American wedding extravaganza. From the garba at the Mariott, to two ceremonies at Signature of Solon, it was an incredibly fun, romantic, exciting weekend. Here are some of my favorites from their civil ceremony. In case you can't tell, the staff did an amazing job of transforming the room from a beautiful Hindu ceremony setting to the perfect Western civil ceremony setting. Enjoy :)

and they were so happy to have each other

Hi Lindsey,

We got the albums today and they are GORGEOUS!!!! The photos are so beautiful, even more beautiful than seeing them online, and the book is really nice too. I also love your book covers. I am so excited to give my mom hers. My parents have a tradition of looking at their wedding album on each anniversary. We plan on doing that too. I love knowing they will be looking at their photos for years to come. I love thinking that maybe someday, their grandchildren will look at the photos, and get a sense of what their day was like.

In the heat of wedding season, it's easy to get caught up in things like shutter speed, and timelines, and trying to return calls and e-mails in a timely manner. Thank you to all my clients who send notes to remind me that what I'm doing has a lasting effect. It makes me happy to know my documentation of one of the most important days of their lives will be appreciated for years to come. It's part of the reason why I am a wedding photographer.

He rode a white horse
and his friends danced ahead of him
leading him to where Shetal's parents waited
He knew to guard his shoes during the ceremony,
But the girls didn't wait for him to reach the mandap before making their move
They pounced when he was vulnerable, on the shoulders of his groomsmen
Only partially barefoot, he presented himself to his future in-laws
With his nose properly tugged,
he stomped on the clay pot and allowed himself to be lead inside
to wait for Shetal
after the Hindu ceremony, they walked down the aisle
then danced back up it to the mandap
Joy radiated from them in smiles and flashing feet

conversation swirled and bumped in two languages
and her father remained stoic as he whirled her around the floor

The look on his face
was so worth it
when she floated down the aisle in an ethereal wisp of a dress
She held it together for most of the ceremony
when the tears finally spilled over,
he helped her wipe them away
because he understood

We stopped at the beach after the ceremony
and almost got a ticket for illegal parking
but the police officer was nice,
and waited while they twirled and dipped and danced on the sand for my camera

Another stop--
Ever the gentleman, he carried her through the tall grass,
wading into the sultry blanket of heat
laying over the sunlit field we had chosen for photos

the heat was oppressive
sweat trickled down spines
my fingers slid off the buttons on my camera

but it was so worth it

he craned his neck to see her

he made such a fierce declaration of love

as I have ever seen

and when his brother sang, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place

when I asked them to stand apart for a photo, they curved

toward each other

like magnets forced apart

I wasn’t expecting the storm of silly string and shaving cream after the cake cutting

but they just laughed and rolled with it

After, they cleaned up and we slipped outside for some twilight sky photos

even a rainy day couldn’t hide the beauty of a Catawba Island sky

Playing in the snow

They had been promised a trip to Malley's
if they would just smile
and not throw snowballs at the photographer
or her cameras
so they bounced out into the snow bright day
giggling and poking each other as they posed
hanging on each other the way only siblings do
Mom and Dad stood off to the side,
ready with coats in between takes.
I discovered that my boots are not waterproof,
and remembered how much I love late afternoon winter sun
sparkling on diamond snow
it was a good day

Two country clubs, one church, one great big party

They didn't want to see each other before the ceremony
so it was his and hers country clubs to get ready
laces tied and cuff links straightened,
their Joy was palpable
bubbling over in orchids and giggles,
smiles and fervent hugs
and when asked, they both agreed
"I do"
Then they made a dash for the Rolls
amid cheers and champagne
and partied the night away with everyone they loved

I got a call last week to cover the launch party for a Vivienne B-- a fabulous new line of custom designed clothing and bedding for girls. What a treat! It's always good to hear of new companies sprouting in the greater Cleveland area. Plus, well, I wanted to do a little shopping too ;)

Customers chose their own combinations of fabrics for each article of clothing

These little cuties treated everyone to a mini-sized fashion show. The cuteness was off the charts.

Debby and David's Engagement Session at Beechmont Country Club

Debby and David scheduled their engagement session exactly one year before their wedding, on the very course where David proposed. I met them at Beechmont Country Club, we hopped into a golf cart and raced all over Beechmont's beautiful course to shoot. We had to dodge a few balls, but it was worth it.

Jen and Brian's Wedding at Orchard Hills

Jen and Brian have been best friends for years, and when their wedding day finally arrived, the excitement, peace and love were almost palpable. They wed each other at St. Mary Magdalene Church, then held an intimate reception at Patterson Fruit Farm.

Here are some of my favorite images from their day:

We headed to a private beach for some photos. You'd never know how hot it was by these images, but trust me--it was brutal. With the recent weather, I just keep reassuring my brides and grooms that the sweat won't show up in the photos :)

I have never had a S'more at a wedding, so I had to show it off here. The sun went down over the ridges, and guests drifted out of the hall in twos and threes to enjoy the fire and S'mores.

Alicia and Chris's Wedding Celebration at Severance Hall

Alicia and Chris tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Tremont. One of my favorite moments in any wedding is what I call The Moment After. After the vows have been said, After the rings have been exchanged, After the blessing have been laid upon them, the couple walks back down the aisle. The first moment after all the pageantry is done, and they steal a look at each other is one of my favorite moments of the day. And this is one of my all time favorite images of the moment after...

Sometimes an image just presents itself...We went to the Cleveland Cultural Gardens along MLK for some photos. I love shooting there. So many options, and it's free.

They held their reception at Severance Hall, which was particularly fitting since Alicia is a violinist with the Cleveland Orchestra.

I love it when clients return, especially with new family members. Melissa and Todd contacted me earlier this year for a maternity portrait. We had a great time during that session, so I was thrilled when they called again for a portrait of their baby boy, Caleb. Here are just a few favorites from this sweet session.

As we were getting ready to go outside, I turned and saw Todd kissing Caleb. What a beautiful, intimate moment.

It's not every client that will let you kick off your shoes and stand over them on their guest bed to take a photo :)

I love this room in particular. It's such a dramatic setting for a bride waiting to walk up the aisle...

Though the day started out rainy, things cleared up and we headed down to the Flats for some photos. Kristen and Ryan were so easy to work with. We had fun playing around in front of this garage door...

Who knew Ryan could breakdance??

I love this next photo because you'd never know we were on a rusty bridge in the flats. I went there expecting urban, gritty photos, and came away with something ethereal. I love it when a shoot surprises me...

Abbie and Nick's Wedding in Chagrin Falls

Here are a some highlights from Abbie and Nick's wedding. They got married at the Church of the Holy Angels in Chagrin Falls. After a groomsman passed out during the ceremony (very scary!), it was smooth sailing for the rest of the day. Beautiful weather, beautiful couple--you get the idea :)
On the way to the falls, we stopped for a few shots in front of the Popcorn Shop. I love that place.

Abbie had to take a deep breath or two get through her vows without crying.

Hallie and Ian's Wedding at Cleveland Botanical Garden

Hallie and Ian tied the knot at Cleveland Botanical Garden last Saturday. Undaunted by the windy, rainy weather, they decided to stick with their plan for an outdoor ceremony in the Japanese Island Bed Garden.

We headed downtown for a shot on in front of the Cleveland Athletic Club, where they met. It stopped raining just long enough for us to get this shot of them smooching in the middle of Euclid Avenue.

We had every kind of weather: sunny, cloudy, rainy, partial sun, wind, more rain. Hallie and Ian get major points for being the most adventurous and laid back couple ever, because they trekked all over the Botanical Gardens for photos, only making a dash for the building when the rain started in earnest. Of course, as soon as we started running, the rain let up. So we stopped for this shot:

Then it started pouring. So I packed up my cameras and we ran for the building. Everyone was wet, but we slipped into the Glass House for some uninterrupted photo time...

I recently had the pleasure of shooting a wedding with Robert Pruszynski of Image Studio--so much fun! Jenn and John tied the knot at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Youngstown, Ohio; then partied the night away at the Maronite Center. Here are a few favorites...

Jenn started to cry during the ceremony, and John reached out with a tissue to wipe away her tears.

Even though it was raining, Jenn and John were game to stop by Millcreek Park to take a few photos. They even dropped the umbrella for this quick shot in the rain.

I'm in between stints at the Cleveland International Film Festival, running through a quick edit of Erika's maternity session, and I ran across this shot.
I was thrilled when I walked into the kitchen and saw this red wall with a huge sliding glass door beside it. Red wall + natural light + gorgeous pregnant woman = Happy Lindsey. More to come from this super hot maternity session.

Cleveland International Film Festival Rocks

Some of you already know that I volunteer at the the Cleveland International Film Festival , which kicked off its 34th season last night with a grand opening party. This year, the CIFF is presenting 300+ films from over 80 countries. With over 66,000 admissions last year, and more expected this year, the CIFF is becoming a major film festival. If you haven't made it downtown to catch a movie, now is the time. Filmmakers from all over the world are roaming the halls of Tower City, and there are hundreds of CIFF staffers and volunteers there to help you find your way around.

Be sure to check out super hot filmmaker Wendy Jo Carlton's movie, Hannah Free. It's screening tonight at 7:25 p.m. and Sunday at 11:40 a.m.

I won't be posting anything next week because I'll be working at the CIFF, but stay tuned the following week for highlights from recent boudoir and maternity shoots.

Fun with Blue Orchid Handbags

Some of you may have heard me gushing on Facebook about a fun shoot I had a few weeks ago with Jackie of Blue Orchid Handbags. I met Jackie at a Cleveland Handmade Market, where I bought one of her beautiful handcrafted bags as a Christmas present for my sister-in-law. I had a hard time actually giving that gift, because I was so in love with it, I wanted to keep it for myself. So when Jackie approached me about photographing some of her handbags, I jumped at the chance. The most difficult part of this shoot was concentrating on the photography, and not shopping when I was supposed to be shooting.

I want this one. Badly.

It was so much fun to collaborate with a creative person like Jackie. Here she's adjusting the handbag to show off its sexy little embellishment.
It looked like little kids had been playing dress up in my space...

I love the moment after each couple has been married. The looks of happiness, joy, relief, elation are priceless.

Audrey and Paul got married at the Hyatt Regency Arcade downtown. This was one of the most fun weddings I have ever photographed. Audrey rocked the glamorous Hollywood look with a fur stole and red lipstick, and her bridesmaids' dresses completed the look.
